Observatory is located down a back alleyway in an extremely industrial area right off of the Gowanus canal, which added to the mood.
The art was good. Many of the artists focused on the tentacular horror aspect of Lovecraft's work, and a lot of the images represented can already be seen in the pages of the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game. Not that it wasn't interesting seeing them up close. A few of the most stand-out pieces were photo-manipulation works, which stood out from the crowd because of how different they were.
Here are a few of the pieces that I took photos of, for more information about the event, and the artists, visit the Observatory's web-site: http://observatoryroom.org/2010/05/26/exhibition-opening-a-love-craft/
